Nature Republic in Seoul, South Korea
Located in Myeongdong, one of the busiest and most popular shopping destinations in Seoul, South Korea, this green facade covers Nature Republic, an organic cosmetics company. The project was made using the innovative cork board vertical garden wall system from Cortica Garden. The landmark attraction features over 50,000 plants that cover the four-story building and plants live throughout snowy winters and hot, humid summers inside the all-natural cork system. Many countries, including Korea, understand the importance of greenery in people’s lives, which is why governments and corporations are investing heavily to build greenery in urban spaces.
The Institute of Technical Education’s College Central in Singapore
Designed by architect Lawrence Ler of RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, this 82-foot wall is considered the world’s largest vertical garden installation. Residing in College Central at the Institute of Technical Education in Singapore, this massive vertical garden was designed to regulate heat in the country’s tropical climate.
Quai Branly Museum in Paris, France
Say bonjour to the beauty of this green wall located at the Quai Branly Museum in Paris. Created by French botanist Patrick Blanc, this piece covers the museum’s facade as well as several interior walls. It features 15,000 plants of 150 varieties sourced from China, Japan, Central Europe and the Americas.
The Athenaeum Hotel in London, England
This five-star hotel is a site to be seen amidst the urban landscape in Mayfair, London. Overlooking the Royal Green Park in London, these luxury accommodations boast breathtaking greenery that adorns 10 floors of the building’s corner facade.
CaixaForum Museum in Madrid, Spain
Approximately 15,000 plants from 250 species cover this Madrid-based museum, making it a work of art in its own right. Home to ancient, modern and contemporary exhibits, CaixaForum is located near three other popular museums: the Prado, Thyssen and the Reina Sofía.
One Central Park in Sydney, Australia
Awarded a 5-star Green Star “Multi-Unit Residential Design v1” Certified Rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, One Central Park is comprised of two residential apartment towers, an east and west tower, and multiple levels of retail shopping at the base. The living wall component of this property was a joint collaboration between French botanist Patrick Blanc and Parisian architect Jean Nouvel.
Emquartier in Bangkok, Thailand
A different kind of living installation, the Rainforest Chandelier in the Emquartier mall in Bangkok, Thailand was inspired by the rainforest itself. The installation measures over 328 feet long, twisting and turning the length of five stories before ending in a series of elegant pools.
